Mangaluru, Jul 20: Exactly ten days after he breathed his last after a prolonged illness, the much anticipated autobiography of former Higher Education Minister B A Mohideen was released as scheduled today at Mangaluru’s town hall.
Dr B A Vivek Rai, who had served as the vice-chancellor of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), Mysore University and Kannada University, unveiled the book titled Nannolagina Naanu (My inner-self) in the presence of leaders of various political parties including Congress, BJP, JD(S), and others.
Former chief minister Siddaramaiah, Karnataka assembly Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar, Minister for urban development and housing U T Khader among others recalled the contributions of late Mohideen on the occasion.
Umar Teekay, who has written foreword to the autobiography, delivered introductory remarks. Family members of late Mohideen including his son Asif Masood were present.
The autobiography written in Kannada language contains both popularly known and unknown facts of the departed politician’s life and his contemporary politicians of Karnataka.
Though Mohideen was not ready to pen his biography, two Kannada writers Mohammed Kulai and B A Mohammed Ali had compelled him to explain the stories of his life and gave it a form of first person narrative book and thus made it his official autobiography.
