Madikeri, Sep 26: The Karnataka government has decided to construct permanent houses to the flood victims in Kodagu district, said Minister for Housing U T Khader.

Speaking to newsmen after holding a meeting with the officials here on Tuesday, he said that about 110 acres of land has been identified at various places in the district and work has begun.
He said that three model houses with built-in areas 307 sq.ft, 415 sq.ft and 500 sq.ft respectively are being constructed on a pilot basis by three different private companies adjacent to the RTO Office on the outskirts of the town.
The three companies are: Karnataka State Habitat Centre, Netaji Welfare Association and Bird Utilising International Technology.
It is said that the pilot houses can resist earth quake and fire disaster and obviously are environment-friendly, he added.
