Bengaluru, Nov 24: Two engineering students lost their lives after their motorbike rammed the median and a tree on New BEL Road on Wednesday. Both of them were not wearing helmets, according to police.

Gunavantha Sai and Vishnu Naidu, both 19 years old, were students of MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology. They were heading back to their paying guest accommodation on 80 Feet Road in Sanjaynagar after attending a friend's birthday party in Yeshwanthpur around 12.45am when the accident occurred.
Gunavantha from Kolar, a third semester student of industrial engineering, lost control over the KTM Duke bike, hit the median and then rammed a tree. Both of them were thrown off the vehicle and suffered severe head injuries. While the rider died on the spot, the pillion-rider, Vishnu Naidu, a native of Nanjungud and student of architectural engineering, died on the way to hospital.
The intensity of the collision was so high that the vehicle was completely damaged.
Police said the students, who did not own a vehicle, borrowed the bike from a friend to attend the party. They were allegedly speeding. Their bodies have been kept at MS Ramaiah Hospital.
