Mangaluru, Mar 23: Bushra, a 21-year-old woman, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her husband’s residence at Bolangadi village in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kananda district on Monday.

Sources said conflicts over dowry led to the incident. It is also said that injury marks were found on the dead body.
The victim, a mother of a one-year-old girl, had married Irfan (30) about two years ago. Soon after the wedding, differences started cropping up between the couple regarding the amount of dowry, source said.
As soon as the news of ‘alleged dowry killing’ began to spread on Monday evening, family members and relatives of the woman, along with the villagers stormed the house of Irfan and created ruckus. A few among them even manhandled Irfan.
However, sleuths from Bantwal Town Police Station rushed to the spot on time and resorted to mild baton charge to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control.
Bantwal ASP Rahul Kumar, Circle Inspector Belliyappa visited the spot. Additional police have been deployed in the area as part of precautionary measures. More details awaited.
