Udupi, Jul 11: Police have arrested three persons in connection with the connection with the alleged gang-rape on a 15-year-old girl last week in a moving bus belonging to Karnataka State Road Transportation Corporation Limited (KSRTC).
The arrested are KSRTC bus conductor, Yuvaraj Kattekar (45), driver Veerayya Hiremath (40), and additional driver Raghavendra Badagera (43). They have been booked under POSCO Act.
Sleuths of Udupi district police picked up the accused from Ranebennur and also seized the bus in which the alleged rape took place.
The victim, a native of Belagavi, who has been residing in Manipal, had gone to Ranebennur on July 5. The girl was reportedly assaulted by the three KSRTC staff members in the moving bus when she was on her way to Ranebennur.
After returning to Manipal on July 8, the victim returned the incident to her parents, who lodged a complaint at Udupi women police station.
