Bengaluru, Apr 22: Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has announced the deaths of four Janata Dal (Secular) workers in Sunday's serial blasts in Sri Lanka, saying External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had confirmed they were among the hundreds killed.
The deaths of Hanumantharayappa and Rangappa were confirmed earlier today by the Indian High Commission in Colombo. "I am deeply shocked at the loss of our JDS party workers, whom I know personally," Mr Kumaraswamy had tweeted then.
"We stand with their families in this hour of grief," he said in a tweet on Monday.
In a series of tweets, Mr Kumaraswamy confirmed that the four partymen were part of a seven-member team of JDS workers from Karnataka who were touring the island nation.
The three others who are missing have been identified as H ShivuKumar, A Maregowda and H Puttaraju.

Bombings tore through churches and luxury hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, killing 290 people -- including at least six Indians -- and leaving 500 injured.
An island-wide curfew imposed by the government was lifted early on Monday
There has been no claim of responsibility yet.
"Such senseless violence, aimed at innocent people, has no place in civilised society," President Ram Nath Kovind said on Twitter on Sunday.
"We stand in complete solidarity with Sri Lanka."
