Mangaluru, Nov 3: A day after the double murder of undertrials in Mangaluru sub jail, Additional Director-General of Police (Law & Order) Alok Mohan said that the police department had constituted a high-level investigation team headed by an ACP to investigate the murders, which would be supervised by Commissioner of Police.

Under-trials Madoor Isubu and Ganesh Shetty, who were in the prison for past five years, were brutally murdered allegedly by a rival gang inside the jail on Monday morning.
Interacting with reporters in the city on Tuesday, Mr Mohan said that five accused had been booked for the murders and the police were looking for more persons involved in both the crimes, including the possibility of help from outside the prison.
It is an open investigation and efforts are being made to uncover all aspects of the case. Whoever is found responsible during the investigation will be severely dealt with, he said, adding that strict action would be taken if the involvement of police personnel or prison staff was found.
Acknowledging that knives had been used as murder weapons, the senior police officer said that the murder of under-trial Madoor Isubu was a very planned murder since there was less probability of such crime taking place inside a prison. There were almost 40 wounds of stabbing on Isubu's body, while there were no such injuries on Ganesh's body. The latter had injuries on his head and face possibly from a blunt weapon, he told reporters.
IGP (Western Range) Amrit Paul, Commissioner of Police S Murugan, Dakshina Kannada SP Dr Sharanappa and others were present in the press conference.
