“Mathematical Olympiad” is basically a talent search program for the pre-university students. The main purpose of the program is to encourage students to develop their mathematical ability. Through this program a nationwide search is made every year to spot talented students in the field of Mathematics.

INMO program is the only program which leads to participation of Indian students at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO)which was started way back in 1959 and is held in different countries every year (In India it was held in 1996). There are more than 100 participating countries. Indian performance has always been satisfactory.

In India, this program is a major initiative undertaken by the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM). On behalf of NBHM this program is organized every year by HomiBhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), Mumbai. HBCSE has been organizing this program since 1988. This program is the earliest program from amongst other similar programs organized now for difference science subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astrophysics.

In the last 20 years, there hasn't been any student from Karnataka Representing India at the international math Olympiads, and CFAL is hoping to see the day when students from Mangalore are representing India, and winning the International Mathematics Olympiads.

India has been participating in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) since 1989. The selection of the Indian team is a three-tier process: after the state level exams, 300 students from all over the country appear for the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO). To select the Indian team for IMO, 30 students selected from INMO attend a training camp in Mumbai, out of these selected team of 5-6 students will represent India at the International Mathematics Olympiads (IMO) 2017.

From the year 2017, Indian team is also participating in (i) Asian-Pacific Mathematics Olympiad, and (ii) European Girls Mathematics Olympiad (for girls only).

From 2009 to 2016 a total of 36 students & now in 2016 five students are selected, from Mangaluru. All these students were/are undergoing JEE, KVPY and NEET training at Centre For Advanced Learning (CFAL), Kottara cross, Mangaluru.

Karnataka Regional Mathematics Olympiad – KRMO 2016 was held on 16th October 2016 and a total of 1200 very brilliant students from Karnataka had appeared among whom 70 students were from Mangalore. Out of the 35 students selected from Karnataka, only 5 are from Mangaluru and they are CFAL Students. The selected students will attend a training camp at Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore in the month of January and are eligible to appear for the second stage of the examination held on 15th Jan 2017.

Dear Bhageeratha Bhaira,
There is no doubt Brahmins have been intellectuals in many of the educational fields. They are good professors, scientists, doctors.

If they can do, you can also do, you should encourage your children. We also encourage, motivate our children

Mangaluru police have arrested a 27-year-old NRI on his return from Saudi Arabia in connection with an Instagram post allegedly containing derogatory and provocative remarks about the Hindu religion, officials said on Monday.

The accused, Abdul Khader Nehad, a resident of Ulaibettu in Mangaluru, was working in Saudi Arabia when the post was uploaded, police said.

A suo motu case was registered at the Bajpe police station on October 11 after an allegedly offensive post circulated from the Instagram account ‘team_sdpi_2025’. Police said the content was flagged for being provocative and derogatory in nature.

During the investigation, technical analysis traced the Instagram post to Nehad, who was residing abroad at the time, a senior police officer said. Based on these findings, a Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against him.

On December 14, Nehad arrived from Saudi Arabia at Calicut International Airport in Kerala, where he was taken into custody on arrival. Police said further investigation is underway.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
