Kasaragod, Jul 17: A five-year-old boy has become the talk of the town after he exhibited presence of mind and rescued two of his friends from drowning in a lake in Kasaragod district.
The hero is Zainul Abideen (5), a student of UKG. He is son of Zainuddin and Asma couple.
It is learnt that two five-year-old boys — Shamil (5), son of Arif Nisan and Basim Saman (5), son of Muneer, resident of Muliyar village were playing with a ball near their house.
When the ball accidentally fell into a 20-foot deep lake, the two children went to fetch it and lost their balance.
Zainul Abideen, who noticed his friends drowning, immediately brought a long wooden stick and asked the duo to hold it tightly. The boys finally managed to came out by holding the stick while Zainul Abideen was holding the stick from other side.
Deputy Superintendent of Police M V Sukumaran visited his house and felicitated him for his bravery.
