Mangaluru, Dec 3: A 55-year-old man from Vittla in Bantwal taluk, who had gone for hunting along with his friends Tuesday night lost his life after a double-barrel gun was misfired.

Budda Nayak (55) had accompanied his neighbours Satish, Sundara and Chidananda for hunting in Punacha village near Vitla.
According to Shashidhar, son of Nayak, while the hunters group was walking to a private property in Punacha, there was contact with the gun, which fired at Budda. This bullet hit his father and he died while being brought to the hospital, Mr. Shashidhar has told police.
Assistant Superintendent of Police C.B. Ryshyanth, who is investigating the case, said that the police have registered a case under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code against persons, who are yet to be identified.
They are yet to identify as to who was carrying the fire arm and whether it was a misfire. Mr. Ryshyanth said they have also registered a case under Sections 35 and 47 of the Arms Act and also under the provisions of Scheduled and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
