Abu Dhabi: ICC Kannada unit holds Iftar meet; Book on verses of mercy released

Abu Dhabi, Jul 4: The Kannada unit of Islamic Cultural Center, Abu Dhabi, conducted an iftar meet recently in Madinat Zayed Lulu hall, here.

Mohammed kunhi, manager of Shanthi Prakashana, Mangaluru, and khatheeb of Masjidul Huda Thokkotu, was the chief guest. Speaking about the importance of fasting in various religions, he said fasting is observed by different religion in different ways. It purifies human being physically and mentally as it prevents all kinds of evils and instills spiritual values in human mind.

“Today we live in a society which is shattered with evils. Vulgarity, fornication, pornography and immorality are widespread. Fasting can prevent their spread and transform a man completely and enable him to lead a fruitful life,” he said.

Dr viquar Azeem, managing director, Al Ithihad medical centre, Abu Dhabi, speaking on the significance of Ramadan, described it as a month of blessings, mercy, harmony, integrity. “Holy Quran, which is the guidance for whole mankind, was revealed in this month. It enlightens the life of mankind by showing him the right path. It’s necessary to read, learn and understand the Quran”, said

He released the book ‘Verses of mercy in Quran’, written by Abdul Salaam Deralakatte and published by Shanthi Prakashana. The book is a collection of verses of mercy

Mohammed Ali Uchil, a social worker and President of Beary’s Welfare Forum, conveyed the Ramadan greetings.

ICC Kannada unit has been working for the welfare of poor, destitute, orphans and backward people by carrying out various activities and extended their noble services for the deserved people of the society.

Jafer Sadiq BM recited the holy verses of the Quran at the beginning. He compered the programme and proposed vote of thanks. President Abdul Rasheed VK, associative members Imran Ahmed Kudroli, Saleem Banakal, Aboobakkar, Mubarak, Abdul Salaam Deralakatte and Jafer were present.

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru CEN police have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly posting provocative and misleading content on an Instagram page named “mr_a_titude”, targeting the Bajpe police.

Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy C H identified the arrested as Abhishek M, a resident of Katipalla in Mangaluru.

A case has been registered at the Bajpe Police Station under Sections 353(1)(c), 353(2), 56, and 57 read with Section 189 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in connection with the post.

According to police, the accused uploaded a photograph of a hotel on the Instagram page and alleged that accused persons in a murder case under the Bajpe police jurisdiction were being given “royal treatment” by the police, including being served beef meals daily from the hotel.

The post further accused the police of supporting criminals, misusing their authority, and betraying public trust. Police said the content was provocative in nature and aimed at inciting public outrage against the police.

Following the post, a case was registered at the Bajpe police station, and further investigation was transferred to the CEN police station.

Police records indicate that the accused has a criminal history, with multiple cases registered against him, including murder, attempt to murder, assault, and robbery at the Surathkal Police Station, and one case at the Kaup Police Station.

The Commissioner said the accused was traced and arrested using technical evidence.
