Mangalore, Oct 30: Activists of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parisad, the students' wing of BJP, staged a protest in Mangalore on Wednesday demanding that the bus fare be reduced as the price of diesel has come down by Rs. 4 a litre.
ABVP city unit president Jayesh P.K. said the government had not brought down the bus fare for KSRTC and private buses even a week after the price of diesel was reduced.
Sushant, a law student, said private buses in Karkala have reduced the fare for students by Re. 1 and the the fare from Karkala to Mangalore was now Rs. 19. Similar action should be taken by buses operating from Mangalore, he said.
The protesters blocked movement of traffic for about 15 minutes at the busy PVS Junction.
