Dharmasthala, Nov 22: All religions in this world propagate humanity, truth and justice, besides encouraging their followers to rise above their selves and work for society said Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala.
He was speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the Sarvadharma Sammelana (All Religions Conference) at Dharmasthala. The conference is being held as a part of the 82nd Laksha Deepothsava celebrations at the temple town.
Religion is not confined to certain rituals but teaches us great values such as truth, justice and humanity, he said. “We should always tell the truth and follow the path laid out by religion,” he added.
He said religion sought to tap into the “inner strength” of individuals, and it was the duty of the followers to use philosophy and morality in their daily lives.
The governor said that only when women are acknowledged to be ahead of men, can a strong society be formed in the country, said.
The programme saw a classical music concert by Shankar Namboodiri, while, Kanchimaaru Katte' utsav was also held.
