Bengaluru, Jul 4: Former housing minister MH Ambareesh has dropped enough hints that he may soon return to the Siddaramaiah cabinet.

Stating that he made a mistake by deciding to quit as an MLA soon after he was dropped from the ministry, Ambareesh said: "I will decide on my future after meeting the people of Mandya."

Siddaramaiah, in a bid to end to the rising dissidence in the state unit, had recently offered an olive branch to the rebel Vokkaliga leader, asking him to return to the cabinet.

By re-inducting Ambareesh, the CM also wants to assuage the sentiments of Vokkaliga community leaders who are unhappy with the decrease in their representation, sources said.

Ambareesh couldn't resist the offer since he has just two years left in politics considering his age and failing health, they added.

However, Ambareesh's supporters said their leader won't change his stand. "He had openly announced that he would not go back on his decision even if he's offered Rs 100 crore," said a supporter.

Mangaluru police have arrested a 27-year-old NRI on his return from Saudi Arabia in connection with an Instagram post allegedly containing derogatory and provocative remarks about the Hindu religion, officials said on Monday.

The accused, Abdul Khader Nehad, a resident of Ulaibettu in Mangaluru, was working in Saudi Arabia when the post was uploaded, police said.

A suo motu case was registered at the Bajpe police station on October 11 after an allegedly offensive post circulated from the Instagram account ‘team_sdpi_2025’. Police said the content was flagged for being provocative and derogatory in nature.

During the investigation, technical analysis traced the Instagram post to Nehad, who was residing abroad at the time, a senior police officer said. Based on these findings, a Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against him.

On December 14, Nehad arrived from Saudi Arabia at Calicut International Airport in Kerala, where he was taken into custody on arrival. Police said further investigation is underway.
