Dehradun, Nov 23: Seven persons on Tuesday died and three others got injured when a four-wheeler they were returning in from a rally of BJP president Amit Shah fell into a gorge in Almora district, officials said.

Senior officials have rushed to the spot. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat expressed grief at the loss of lives and asked the district administration to take up treatment of the injured and payment of compensation to the families of the deceased on a priority basis. The cause of the accident is still not known, the District Disaster Management Office said.
"I have instructed the district and police officers of Almora to ensure that best possible medical facility is provided to the injured woman and we will provide whatever help is possible from our side," said the chief minister.
