Bengaluru, Nov 29: Five persons, including a couple, were arrested for extorting Rs 15 lakh from a doctor working with a prominent hospital on Cunningham Road. They had threatened to make public videos of him in a compromising position with women. It was only when their demands grew that the panicky doctor called the cops.

Incidentally, this is the second doctor from the same hospital falling for the same ruse. Earlier this year, another doctor had been honeytrapped by a Kannada starlet and her associates. But in the second case, it was a patient who turned pimp for the doctor and blackmailed him.

High Grounds police recovered Rs 14.5 lakh in cash, a car, an autorickshaw, a two-wheeler, laptops and mobiles from all the five.

DCP (central) Sandeep Patil said Anees Ahmed from D J Halli, an accomplice of a former rowdy from Shivajinagar, had taken his wife to the doctor three months ago to get her treated for some illness. The doctor and the woman became intimate and she promised to supply him women for sex.

The couple visited the doctor's house when his wife was away. They also took the doctor to some places where they videographed his sexual encounters with other women. They later threatened to circulate them in TV channels.

"The doctor panicked and quickly gave the couple Rs 15 lakh. Anees, who was in the habit of collecting protection money from his area, gave some money to his three associates, Sadiq Pasha, Ejaz and Shafi, who had helped him in videographing the doctor in a compromising position. The accused again demanded Rs 15 lakh more from the doctor, who panicked and filed a police. A trap was laid and Anees, his wife and three of his associates were arrested on Wednesday," police said.

Anees is wanted in several cases in DJ Halli, JC Nagar and High Grounds police stations for robbery, dacoity attempt and extortion, police added.
