
Mangaluru, Jan 23: Condemning the incident of stone-pelting and rioting that occurred recently in Karaya near Uppinangady, All India Muslim Scholars Association general secretary Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musliyar said that the government should not delay in taking strict action against the anti-social forces who attacked religious institutions.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the renovated Siddiq Jumma Masjid at Marakada near Bajpe here on Thursday, he said that religious institutions such as masjids were centres of peace and attacks on these centres should be condemned.
Karnataka Sunni Ulama Association state president and Udupi Khazi P M Ibrahim Musliyar inaugurated the programme.
Mangaluru City North MLA B A Mohideen Bava presided over the programme, while Assayed Hamza Thangal made the dua.
Dakshina Kannada District Wakf Board advisory committee president Haji S M Rasheed, Minorities Commission former president K S Mohammed Masood and Basheer Madani also spoke on the occasion.
Mangaluru Islamic Cultural Centre general secretary B M Mumtaz Ali, Beary Academy president B A Mohammed Haneef, Rasheed Haji Bellare, local corporators Muhammed, K Harinath, Jagadeesh Shetty and others were present.
