Mangalore, Jan 9: Members of Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee submitted a memorandum to the Mangalore Police Commissioner on Wednesday urging to arrest Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for his provocative statements aimed at creating a rift between communities.
A delegation of local Congress leaders presented a memorandum to Mangalore City Police Commissioner R Hitendra, demanding the immediate arrest of the RSS leader as well as the filing of Goonda Act against him.
“Even with just a preliminary investigation, the police can link most communal incidents in the district to Mr Bhat. The previous government had supported his actions, but our government will not,” said Mohammad Badruddin, KPCC minority cell member.
The Congressmen referred to similar cases against Mr. Bhat for his provocative speeches at a rally in Uppinangadi in early 2012.
