Mangaluru, Jan 4: A jurisdictional magistrate court on Tuesday directed the police to investigate the alleged hate speech on Sunday by Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha member Nalin Kumar Kateel.

The MP reportedly said that his party workers are capable of setting Dakshina Kannada district on fire if the police did not arrest the perpetrators of the murder of Karthik Raj, while addressing a meeting.
The Konaje police have registered an FIR against the MP under Section 506 of IPC, Mr. Shantharaju said.
On Monday, Congress and Democratic Youth Federation of India filed two separate complaints with police seeking action against the MP. Congress workers, led by Ullal Block Congress president Santosh Shetty, and DYFI activists, led by its Ullal unit secretary Jeevanraj Kuthar, filed complaints with Konaje police on Monday.
