Mysuru, Nov 23: Police have cracked a minor girl’s murder case by arresting the victim’s aunt and her lover on Thursday.

A 12-year-old schoolgirl was found murdered at her home on the outskirts of Nanjangud on November 16. The class 7 student of a government school was getting ready to go to school after her father, who works in a hotel, and her mother, who works in a factory nearby, had left home. The victim’s two younger siblings too had gone to school.

During interrogation, victim’s aunt Rajamma told police that just before leaving for school, the girl went inside the bush abutting her thatched house to attend nature’s call. There she saw Rajamma and her lover Siddaraju, a mason, together in intimate position. Shocked, she rushed back home. Her aunt and lover followed her and smothered her to death. After the cold-blooded murder they fled from the spot.

The murder came to light when the girl’s siblings came home after school. They alerted their parents who in turn informed police. Initially, going by the scene of crime, it was suspected that the minor was raped before murder. Briefing reporters on Thursday, SP Amith Singh described the motive behind the murder and said, “We are awaiting the postmortem report to officially confirm whether the girl was raped.”

The investigation team would be reward for their achievement in the case that caught public attention within short period, the SP stated.

An officer explained that Siddaraju and Rajamma panicked after they were caught red-handed by the girl and feared they would land in trouble again. The duo was caught in their intimate moments by her family members and there was quarrel between the families. Sensing trouble, they eliminated the girl by smothering. We would take them into police custody and investigate the case in detail.

Siddaraju’s pregnant wife was in Mysuru

Siddaraju, (31) a mason by profession, had left his pregnant wife and two children in Mysuru and had returned to village on Thursday. He has told wife that he would go to work but returned to the village. As he had left door keys with wife, he spent overnight on the terrace of his house, located next to Aishwarya’s hut.

Rajamma, who lived in the village, came to meet Siddaraju early on Friday and then entire incident happened.
