Belthangady, Jan 22: Bajrang Dal regional convener Sharan Pumpwell has alleged that certain Muslim groups were trying to portray that they were assaulted by right-wing activists after the activists themselves were subjected to stone-pelting and assaulted while they were “peacefully” returning from the Hindu Hrudaya Sangama programme that was held last week in Puttur.

Speaking at a press conference here, he alleged that the police were trying to suppress the claims of assault made by activists and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal condemned this.

“Hindus district-wide are being subjected to planned attacks. Several youth from Sangh Pariwar were grievously injured in the Karaya incident. But, it looks like the local elected representatives and ministers are protecting the ‘fanatic’ Muslims who have indulged in the ‘goondagiri’. There is a conspiracy of booking serious cases on innocent Hindu youth and putting them behind bars” he said, alleging that anti-Hindu politicians were behind the biased attitude of the district administration and police department.

In the press conference, Bajrang Dal convenor Muralikrishna Hasantadka, Puttur convenor Bhaskar Dharmasthala, Harish Poonja, advocate Subramanya Kumar and VHP members Taranath and Naveen were present.
