Bengaluru, Dec 21: Customers were left in the lurch as Banking Services were crippled in Karnataka as public sector bank staff and officers unions joined nationwide agitation on Friday demanding immediate wage revision and protested against merger of the State-owned banks.
However, the private sector banks functioned normally.
Customers of Public sector banks had hard time as their visits to the branches proved a waste of time.
The agitating members held demonstration in front of respective headquarters and shouted slogans against the Union Government's proposal to merge State owned banks and demanded revision of wages based on minimum wage formula without linking to profits or paying capacity.
The united forum of Bank Unions, an umbrella body of the top nine PSU Bank Unions, has also decided observe strike again on December 26.
