Mangaluru, Mar 6: A reckless car driver claimed the lives of two motorbike-borne men on Kalladka-Kanhangad highway at Padibagilu Maira junction in Bantwal taluk on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as rider Umesh Naika (35), a resident of Katukukke village, and pillion-rider Vasanta Naika (47), a resident of Punacha village.
The car driver Tallat (30), a resident of Kurnadka, Puttur, has been booked by the jurisdictional Vittla police station for rash and careless driving.
The mishap occurred when the Umesh and Vasanta were returning to their homes on a TVS XL after attending a family function in Vamanjoor.
Tallat was returning in his car from Kasaragod along with three children and five women. While negating a narrow curve at Maira junction he rammed into the two-wheeler.
The intensity was such that the two-wheeler along with the two persons fell off the road to a 20-ft long gorge. They breathed their last while being taken to hospital.
