According to the project details, water from Phalguni river will be lifted at Pucchamogaru in Sangabettu zilla panchayat constituency and Nethravathi river water will be lifted at Karopadi in Kolandu constituency to supply water to the surrounding villages.

The work on installing jackwells, water purification unit, pipelines and water tanks are under progress for the last seven months. A jackwell is being installed in the middle of the Phalguni river at Pucchamogaru. Three separate water purification units are being constructed on two acres of government land on the other side of the river.

Water tanks have been constructed at Sangabettu, Annalike and Panjikallu to store water to be supplied to the villages. The work on laying pipelines to supply water is in progress beside Bantwal-Moodbidri Road.

The project is being implemented at Rs 36 crore will supply water to Sangabettu, Chennaithodi, Kukkipadi, Rayee, Panjikallu and Arala gram panchayats.

In the meantime, the water level has reached rock bottom at Phalguni river like every year. The nearby residents alleged sand is being extracted illegally when the jackwell work is in progress.

Will the water body which goes dry for two months during peak summer be able to supply water to 16 villages, they asked.
