œI nurture many ambitions and to become deputy chief minister is one among them, said Mr Parameshwara replying to a query of media persons on his arrival at Sambra airport here on Thursday. But the decision was left to the party high command, he clarified.

The expansion of cabinet and filling up of vacant berths was the sole discretion of the chief minister, he stated adding that the party was not interfering in the running of the government and that he would not comment on it.

Talks were held by him with the chief minister regarding party and government programmes, Parameshwara said.

On the statement of Digvijay Singh, State in-charge of the party, that the party had given Chief Minister Siddaramaiah powers to appoint chairpersons to boards and corporations, Parameshwara said that the statement of the general secretary becomes direction to the State Congress and that he would not comment on it.

He said that legislators, defeated candidates in elections and leaders who have worked for the party would be considered for appointments to boards and corporations.

The State party has asked for a list of 10 names from each of the Assembly constituencies, before names are finalised for nominations, Parameshwara said.

Reports from 35 constituencies were yet to be received. Names of chairpersons for boards and corporations would be announced after clearance from the high command, he said.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
