Mangaluru/Udupi, Sept 10: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil and Udupi DC Priyanka Mary Francis have declared a holiday for schools, PU and degree colleges in the respective districts on Monday in the wake of the nationwide bandh call given by the Congress party.
A press release said that holiday is declared as a precautionary measure keeping in mind law and order.
The DK Bus Operators Association and Canara Bus Operators Association have decided not to operate buses in DK and Udupi districts.
The World Suicide Prevention Day programme organised by the Health department too has been postponed.
The district-level Pratibha Karanji and Kalotsava competitions organised by the Department of Public Instruction in Dakshina Kannada district on September 10 for high school category has been postponed to September 11.
A press release from DDPI Y Shivaramaiah said that the competitions for primary school children scheduled for September 11 will be held on September 12.
