Hubli, Apr 8: Sri Ram Sena Chief Pramod Muthalik has said that people of different communities, organisations and parties were part of the Babri Masjid demolition but it was BJP which gained political mileage out of it.

Mr. Muthalik, who is contesting as independent candidate both from Dharwad and Bangalore South Lok Sabha constituencies, referred to the Cobra Post sting operation and his subsequent reaction and said that already a case had been registered against him on the issue. “Even if 1,000 cases are registered against me on the issue, I will face them,” he said.
Mr. Muthalik welcomed the BJP manifesto in which there is reference to building the Ram Mandir, uniform civil code and related issues. “BJP which came to power riding on the Hindutva wave had subsequently forgotten the issue. However, it is a welcome move that at least in this election they have remembered to include the Ram Mandir issue in the manifesto,” he said. However, he said that apart from the manifesto, Sri Ram Sena would urge all the BJP candidates from Karnataka to take an oath that they would take up the issue further after coming to power. Otherwise we would be forced to take up agitation against them, he said.
He said that during his canvassing in Bangalore South Constituency, he had received good response because people were disappointed with BJP nominee Ananth Kumar who had failed to “do something” for his constituency despite being elected for five times.
Mr. Muthalik said that he was aware of the misappropriation of funds in the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation with regard to the statue of Shivaji Maharaj and several councillors including few from BJP were involved in it. “We will release the details in the coming days,” he said.
He clarified that he was very much in the contest in Dharwad constituency.
