“After the election on May 21, he came and asked for the money, but when we opened the almirah, the money was missing,” Saroja said.

She said their relative Veena had visited them twice during this time. Saroja suspects Veena and her associates Nagaraj, Manju and Babu may have stolen the money, and demanded that they be interrogated. Police said the almirah was not forcefully opened, someone known to the family may have stolen the money. They are trying to find out why the family filed a complaint three months after they came to know that money was missing from the almirah.
