Kasargod, Jun 30: A 23-year-old leftist activist was brutally stabbed to death allegedly by a Sangh Parivar activist at Panatthadi here on Sunday night.

Rajesh, a 34-year-old worker of Bharatiya Janata Party, was arrested by police on Monday in connection with the incident. He also hails from the same village.
According to local sources, Sharif and Rajesh were engaged in a heated exchanged of words on Sunday evening at Panathur market. This led to a violent fight and Rajesh allegedly stabbed Sharif with a doubled-edged knife.
Even thought the local residents immediately rushed Sharif to a hospital, he was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Rajesh, who managed to escape from the local residents after stabbing the youth, was later arrested by the police. After the arrest, he was admitted to a hospital, as he also sustained minor injuries during the clash.
The incident led to massive protest by DYFI and CPIM in Panatthadi village on Monday.
It could be recalled here that on June 26 BJP and Sangh Parivar had staged a massive protest in Kasargod condemning the murder of auto-rickshaw driver Arun Lal, a resident of Chumundikunnu Pulikkadavu. He was allegedly stabbed by a person identified as Jose. It is learnt that during the protest the few BJP workers including Rajesh had waylaid Sharif 's motorbike and questioned him.
