Mangalore, Jun 8: Activists from various saffron groups participated in a protest organised by Rashtriya Hindu Andolana in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner 's office here on Sunday, urging the Union government to allow for the construction of a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya within a time limit.
The protestors lashed out at the government for not initiating any steps to facilitate the construction of a Ram Mandir on the land. “Narendra Modi-led new BJP government of India must fulfill the long-pending wish of Hindus by building the Ram Mandir,” they said.
They demanded that the mandir should be built on the same spot where the Babri Masjid was demolished by karsevaks ' two decades ago.
“It is the right of every Hindu citizen in the country that the Ram Mandir should be built on the same spot that Shri Ram was born,” said Sukanya Acharya, addressing the protest.
The protestors also demanded that replacement of NCERT textbooks provided for Class 12 that according to them portrays Hindu culture in a degrading light. They said that the textbooks gave false information pertaining to Hindu culture and also freedom fighters such as Bhagat Singh in the textbooks.
Saffron activists Ramesh Nayak, Guruprasad, Geeta Shenoy, Ramananda Gowda and others took part in the protest.
Even though Shaheed Bhagat Singh was a revolutionary socialist, who fought against British, Hindutva outfits in recent years are portraying him as a Hindu leader.
