Bus driver lodges plaint against Mudipu rioters; Cong delegation meets CM

Mangaluru, Mar 19: The driver of a private bus, which was attacked last week by the Bajrang Dal miscreants, who forced Govt First Grade College, Mudipu, to cancel its study tour, has lodged a complaint against the attackers for assaulting him and damaging the bus.

It could be recalled here that on March 14 night a large number of miscreants of Sangh Parivar created a ruckus at the college campus preventing 38 students and four staff of a college from going on an educational tour citing the presence of more Muslim boys in the group.

The bus driver Rama lodged a complaint at jurisdictional Konaje police station against suspected Bajrang Dal activists for having pelted stones at the bus, damaging the glass windows.

According to the complaint, a mob of 100-150 miscreants stopped the bus containing the college students in front of the college, while 10-15 members of the mob pelted stones at the bus. One of the miscreants also abused and slapped him.

The bus driver stated in the complaint that he was delayed in lodging a complaint sine he had been to Bengaluru as a replacement bus driver.

CM assures action

Meanwhile, a delegation of Congress members from Dakshina Kannada district led by health minister and local MLA U T Khader visited the Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum demanding prompt legal action against all miscreants responsible for the recent violence in Mudipu.

Accepting the memorandum, Mr Siddaramaiah said that the government would not neglect the spate of violent incidents or tolerate such incidents by anti-social elements at any cost. The police authorities have been directed to undertake stringent action against the miscreants, he said, adding that MLA U T Khader had provided him with all necessary details of the incident.

The delegation consisted of district leaders Chandrahas Karkera, Prashant Kajava, Melvin D’Souza, Jaleel Montugoli, Naseer Montugoli, Rahman, Basheer Mudipu, Razaq Kukkaje and others, led by Mr Khader.

Melkar, Dec 17: The 17th Annual Day and Graduation Ceremony of Melkar Women’s PU and Degree College, themed “Fusion-2K25,” was celebrated with dignity and enthusiasm, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic journey. The programme reflected the college’s steadfast commitment to academic excellence, character building, and the holistic development of students.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Asif Mohammed, whose presence greatly enriched the occasion. The celebration was further graced by the chief guests Mr. P. B. Ms. Mashmooma Fathima served as the Master of Ceremonies. The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Fathima Nida, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Ayisha Suhana.
