BWF invites applications from Muslim community for mass-marriage

Mangalore, Aug 1: For the sixth time, Bearys Welfare Forum (BWF), Abu Dhabi will organise a mass-marriage for unmarried girls from the Muslim community hailing from financially backward background.

The Briefing mediapersons at a press conference here on Friday, president of the forum Mohammed Ali Uchil said that the mass-marriage would be held in the month of October, for which the organisation invited applications from unmarried Muslim boys and girls from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikmagalur and Kasargod districts, in an effort to eradicate the prevailing practice of dowry in the community.

He said that applicants should send their applications before August 31, with their full names, age, residing address, contact numbers and a certification from their respective Jamaats.

Each couple will be given five sovereign of gold and financial aid. The cost of the wedding will be taken care of by the organisation, he said.

Speaking regarding other projects by the forum, he said that the organisation had constructed over 100 toilets for individual families in the past two years, and would continue with the project in the future.

Bearys Welfare Forum vice-president Mohammed Rafeek Krishnapura, general secretary Abdullah Madumoole and chief advisor Basheer Bajpe were present.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: The Mangaluru City Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the inaugural ceremony of Karavali Utsava, which will be held at the Karavali Utsava Ground on Saturday.

The festival will be inaugurated at 6:00 pm by Dakshina Kannada District Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. Cultural and public programmes will be held at the venue every evening and will continue until January 2.

According to City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, parking of vehicles is strictly prohibited on both sides of the road from Lalbagh to Karavali Utsava Ground. Visitors are requested to park their vehicles only at designated parking areas.

To help the public, traffic signboards and parking guidance flex boards have been installed along the routes leading to the venue. The police have urged commuters and visitors to follow these instructions to ensure smooth traffic movement.
