The BJP has defeated the ruling Samajwadi Party in Assembly bypoll in riot-hit Muzaffarnagar. The result of the bypoll is being seen as a setback for the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, where Assembly elections are due in 2017. The ruling party has also lost Deoband seat to Congress.

Counting of votes for the bypolls held in the Assembly constituencies of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Bihar, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh on February 13 is being conducted today. The counting started at 8 am and the results have started to trickle in.

• Harlakhi, Bihar: NDA candidate wins by around 18,000 votes.
• BJP wins by 6000 votes in Muzaffarnagar.
• Deoband, Uttar Pradesh: Congress candidate Mavia Ali wins by a margin of 3400 votes.
• Palghar, Maharashtra: Shiv Sena candidate Amit Ghoda wins by a margin of 18,948 votes.
• Khadoor Sahib, Punjab: Shiromani Akali Dal wins by a margin of 65,664 votes.
• Medak district, Hyderabad: TRS wins by a margin of 53,600 votes.
• Khadoor Sahib, Punjab: Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Ravinder Singh Brahmpura is leading by over 54,000 votes after 13 rounds of counting.
• BJP leading on both Muzaffarnagar and Deoband assembly seats.
• Counting underway for Amarpur Assembly constituency in Tripura.
• Maihar, Madhya Pradesh: BJP's Narayan Tripathi leading by 2452 votes after 3rd round.
• Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh: Samajwadi Party candidate leading by over 10,000 votes.
• Devadurga, Karnataka: BJP candidate Shivana Gouda Naik leads in the 6th round by 3200 votes.
• Hebbal, Karnataka: BJP candidate YA Narayanaswamy leading by 12063 votes.
• Palghar, Maharashtra: Shiv Sena candidate Amit Ghoda leading after 8th round.
• Samajwadi Party candidate leading in Bikapur (Faizabad district, Uttar Pradesh) Assembly seat.
• Maihar, Madhya Pradesh: BJP's Narayan Tripathi leading by 2278 votes.

• Khadoor Sahib: Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Ravinder Singh Brahmpura leading 3489 votes in the first round.
