Mysuru, Apr 13: The Bharatiya Janata Party has admitted its failure in Nanjangud and Gundlupet as the ruling Congress managed to retain both assembly constituencies.

"We have to learn from our mistakes in this bye-poll so that it does not repeat in 2018. This is the voters’ choice. They elected whom they saw fit," said BS Yeddyurappa, the president of the Karnataka state unit of the saffron party, who had led a rigorous poll campaign in both constituencies.
On the other hand, the by-poll results have caused embarrassments to Congress veteran B Janardhana Poojary and a few rebel leaders of the party who had predicted defeat of his party’s candidates in both constituencies.
Mr Poojary, who is a staunch critic of chief minister Siddaramaiah-led government in Karnataka, had repeatedly stated that people would surely defeat Congress in both Nanjangud and Gundlupet constituencies.
