Belagavi, Dec 14: The BJP-led NDA government at the Centre has ‘unofficially’ sought the details on the farm loan waiver scheme announced by Karnataka government a few months ago, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said here on Friday.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Road Safety Awareness campaign organised at Police Parade Grounds here, he said he had learnt that the union government had sought the details of the farmers’ loan waiver scheme from State BJP leaders using their avenues in the government.

"It is a pity that the BJP central leadership has requested its leaders in Karnataka to send the details of the loan waiver scheme in Karnataka," he said.

This comes after the Union Government flatly refused to help the farmers by writing off farm loans availed by them in PSU banks coming under it.

“Now after the severe drubbing in Assembly elections in five States, the Modi government seem to have learnt the lesson the hard way,” he added.
