Chowkidhar caught stealing wants to make entire country a Chowkidhar nation: Rahul in Karnataka

Kalaburagi, Mar 18: All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi today alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was claiming himself as Chowkidhar and guarding the country against corruption, is now trying to make entire country as 'Mai bhi Chowkidar' ( I am also Guard) when he was ‘caught stealing’ in the Rafale aircraft deal.

"Chowkidhar, who till now claiming that he is lone person who is fighting against corruption, is now trying to spread slogan 'Mai be Chowkidar' when he was caught while allowing robbing of national wealth by allowing his friends including Anil Ambani, Nirav Modi, Vijaya Mallya to indulge in corruption. While some still lived without any shame the others had fled the country without repaying thousands of rupees loan extended by the nationalised Banks. 

Addressing 'Parivartana Rally' here, Mr Gandhi alleged that Mr Modi had failed to remit Rs 15 lakhs to each individual bank accounts as promised before coming to power in 2014 and he also failed to create 2 crore jobs to youths as promised and after allowing his friends to escape from the country, he is claiming that his government is corruption free.
He said Congress party had fulfilled its promise in Karnataka by according special status to most backward Hyderabad-Karnataka region by amending article 371(J) and this has helped in generating 20,000 jobs, students of this region getting reservation in Engineering and Medical Colleges.

He said that as promised Congress ruled States including Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Chattisgarh and Karnataka have waived farmers loan, where as NDA government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has failed to waive farmers loan but has allowed his friends including Nirav Modi, Vijaya Mallya to escape from the country without repaying the loan taken from the Banks.

Mr Gandhi reiterated saying that if Congress comes to power in the Centre it will ensure implementation of Gaurantee Minimum Income programme and the money will be directly credited to Bank accounts of individuals belonging to poor and middle class.
He said that if Congress comes to power at the Centre it will change GST and simplify the tax. "The Gabber Singh Tax will be simplyfiled and simple tax will be introduced
in the country."

He said that after demonitisation only poor and middle class were seen standing before the banks to encashing Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. "This did not eradicate black money but pushed small businessmen to become poor as they could not find source to continue their business," he added.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
