Mangalore, Jun 7: 'City on Wheels – Mangalore 2013' auto expo was inaugurated at Nehru Maidan in Mangalore on Friday by Bollywood actor Gulshan Grover.

Speaking after the formal inauguration, Mr. Grover said that Mangalore has grown in terms of economy which is evident in the changes it has witnessed over the years.

“I have visited Mangalore earlier as we had to shoot in Kudremukh a few years ago. But this visit of Mangalore has changed my earlier impression about the city. Direct flights have been introduced here and the roads have become wider. The economy of the city has improved which is why you have an auto expo like this with all top brands being showcased. When such brands are featured, you know that it's a city which will have takers for these cars. It shows that the economy has blossomed and there is affordability. Mangalore has beautiful beaches and is a fantastic tourist destination”, Mr. Grover said.

Speaking about his upcoming films, the 'bad man' of Bollywood said that four releases featuring him are scheduled in the next two months including 'Bullet Raja', 'Super se Oopar', 'Ban Gayi Baat' and 'Yaariyaan'.

The auto expo will be open for public till Sunday. Brands such as Audi, Jaguar, Volvo, BMW, Volkswagen, Ford, Mini, Fiat, Renault, Range Rover, Hyundai, Skoda, Toyota, Tata and Maruti Suzuki have are being featured in the expo.

Mangaluru police have arrested a 27-year-old NRI on his return from Saudi Arabia in connection with an Instagram post allegedly containing derogatory and provocative remarks about the Hindu religion, officials said on Monday.

The accused, Abdul Khader Nehad, a resident of Ulaibettu in Mangaluru, was working in Saudi Arabia when the post was uploaded, police said.

A suo motu case was registered at the Bajpe police station on October 11 after an allegedly offensive post circulated from the Instagram account ‘team_sdpi_2025’. Police said the content was flagged for being provocative and derogatory in nature.

During the investigation, technical analysis traced the Instagram post to Nehad, who was residing abroad at the time, a senior police officer said. Based on these findings, a Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against him.

On December 14, Nehad arrived from Saudi Arabia at Calicut International Airport in Kerala, where he was taken into custody on arrival. Police said further investigation is underway.
