Mandya, Dec 7: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today harvested the Paddy he had transplanted three months back in Sitapura, under Aaralakuppe Gram Panchayat, in the Taluk.
In an effort to instill confidence among the farmers that the government working for the welfare of the agrarian community, the Chief Minister had volunteered to transplant paddy sapling at the village on August 11.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kumaraswamy said that it was good to see that the people of the District, who have started growing the paddy, which was not possible to due to drought situation earlier.
"Our government is committed to safeguard the interests of farmers in the State and there was no confusion about the loan waiver, it will be done as per the promised. The Cooperative bank loans are Rs 10,300 crores and already the government has waived off Rs 9700 crores.
