Mangalore: St Agnes College holds graduation day

Mangalore, Jun 27: The third graduation day of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangalore, was held recently in the college auditorium.

Delivering the convocation address, Prof. B. Thimme Gowda, Vice-Chancellor, Bangalore University, stressed on the role of teachers in moulding the minds of people to make a great society.

He said that, when interacting with students, a teacher must fill the role of a counselor, a surrogate parent, a nutritionist and someone who has the best interests of every child at heart.

He lauded St. Agnes College for being one of the leading First Grade Colleges for women in India. He congratulated all the graduates and said that they were fortunate to have studied in the great institution.

His advice to the graduates was to always be on the right track while building up their career and not to cross the Lakshman Rekha '.

Dr. Sr. Maria Roopa, A.C., Joint Secretary of St. Agnes College and Superior of St. Agnes Convent, Mangalore presided over the function. It was attended by the members of the Governing Body & Academic Council of the College under autonomy.

Mrs. Shailaja K., Controller of Examinations presented 55 postgraduate and 725 undergraduate degree holders to the Principal, Dr. Sr. Prem D 'Souza A.C. who is also the Chairperson of the Academic Council and Member Secretary of Governing Body to accept them for the Degree.

Dr. Sr. Prem D 'Souza, Principal of the College, welcomed the gathering and administered the Oath to the fresh graduates. Dr. Jayantha H., Convenor of the Programme introduced the Chief Guest. Mrs. Vinatha K., Dean, Faculty of Arts, Dr. Ita D 'Souza, Dean, Faculty of Science, Dr. Devi Prabha Alva, Dean, Faculty of Commerce & Management announced 4 postgraduate rank holders and 23 undergraduate rank holders and they were awarded with Rank Certificates and Cash Prizes.

Dr. Sr. Maria Roopa A.C., delivered the Presidential Address. Dr. Ita Gonsalves, Dean of Science Faculty proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Malini Hebbar compered the programme. The programme began with the Naadageethe and concluded with the National Anthem.

Melkar, Dec 17: The 17th Annual Day and Graduation Ceremony of Melkar Women’s PU and Degree College, themed “Fusion-2K25,” was celebrated with dignity and enthusiasm, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic journey. The programme reflected the college’s steadfast commitment to academic excellence, character building, and the holistic development of students.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Asif Mohammed, whose presence greatly enriched the occasion. The celebration was further graced by the chief guests Mr. P. B. Ahmed Mudassir and Mr. Nissar Fakeer Mohammed, along with the distinguished guests of honour Mr. B. A. Nazeer and Mr. Ibrahim Gadiyar. In their inspiring addresses, the guests encouraged the graduating students and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the management, faculty, and students.

The annual report was presented by the Principal, Mr. Abdul Majeed S, highlighting the institution’s academic progress, notable achievements, and extracurricular accomplishments during the academic year.

The presidential address was delivered by the esteemed Chairman of Melkar Women’s PU and Degree College, Dr. Haji S. M. Rasheed, who emphasized the vital role of education in empowering women and shaping responsible citizens. He also stressed the importance of discipline, dedication, and perseverance in achieving success.

Cultural programmes and academic recognitions formed an integral part of the celebration, showcasing the talents and achievements of the students. The graduation ceremony was a proud moment for the outgoing students as they were formally conferred degrees and wished success in their future endeavours.

Ms. Mashmooma Fathima served as the Master of Ceremonies. The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Fathima Nida, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Ayisha Suhana.

The event successfully achieved its objectives and was highly appreciated by the guests and attendees.
