Mangaluru, May 2: Siporex Strikers emerged champions at the New Friends Premiere League 2016 held recently at Krishnapura near Suratkal, here.
As many as 12 teams participated in this under-arm cricket tournament and there were two pools. In the finals an undefeated Team Elegant faced inconsistent Siporex Strikers in a thriller match.
The winner siporex Strikers bagged a cash prize of Rs 5 lakhs while the runner up Team Elegant bagged a cash award of Rs 3 lacks.
The man of the series was awarded to skipper of Team Elegant Mr. Riyaz. He scored 167 runs, took 9 wickets and did five amazing stumps besides exhibiting his captaincy in the tournament.
Local MLA BA Mohiuddin Bawa, ministers UT Khader, Ramanath Rai, businessmen Mumthaz Ali and Mother India Latheef attended the event.
