Bengaluru, May 15: Having completed 3 years in office, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday expressed satisfaction that his government's performance was far better than the previous BJP regime.

Constantly drawing a comparison between the BJP's regime and that of his, Siddaramaiah claimed that the Congress rule so far had been free' from scams, transparent and pro-people. Rubbishing the BJP's charges as baseless, he said no Congress minister or legislator had either “gone to jail, or come out on bail”.

Taking credit for the achievements in various sectors, including agriculture, he said his government's biggest achievements were in the irrigation sector. Having promised to irrigate 9.25 lakh acres in five years, his government had in 3 years succeeded in irrigating almost 4.25 lakh acres.

Making a scathing attack on BJP leaders Jagadish Shettar and Yeddyurappa for calling him a “liar” and “Congress's last CM in Karnataka”, Siddaramaiah said he wasn't sure if he should laugh these comments off or take the trouble of getting upset. “It is, however, a fact that the people of Karnataka will never vote Yeddyurappa back to power,” he added.

To Yeddyurappa's comments that Siddaramaiah has been deserted by his Cabinet colleagues, he said, “Yeddyurappa has no moral authority to be saying this. There was a point in time when even the DC of Ballari district wouldn't go to receive him. He dropped Shobha Karandlaje from the Cabinet, fearing the Ballari leaders.”

Mangaluru, Dec 7: A 34-year-old fruit and vegetable trader in Mangaluru has reportedly lost ₹33.1 lakh after falling victim to an online investment scam run through a fake mobile app.

Police said the scam began in September, when the victim received a link on Facebook. Clicking it connected him to a WhatsApp number, where an unidentified person introduced a high-return investment scheme and instructed him to download an app.

To build trust, the fraudster asked him to invest ₹30,000 on September 24. The trader soon received ₹34,000 as “profit,” convincing him the scheme was genuine. Over the next two months, he transferred money in multiple instalments via Google Pay and IMPS to different scanner codes and bank accounts shared by the scammers. Between September 24 and December 3, he ended up sending a total of ₹33.1 lakh.

When he later requested a refund of his investment and promised returns, the scammers demanded additional payments, claiming he needed to pay a “service tax” first. Even after he paid a small amount, no money was returned, and the scammers continued pressuring him for more.

A case has been registered at the CEN Crime Police Station.
