Mangaluru, May 20: In a shocking incident, a youth in Ullal near here was attacked by a gang after the former filed an RTI query regarding the functioning of an illegal lodge.
According to the Ullal police, Hamza Mohammed (22) was facing trouble by the lodge run a top his house in Ullal. He had sought information about the lodge from the Town Municipal Council to confirm whether it was a legal or illegal lodge.
Enraged over this the lodge owner Mohammed and six others waylaid Hamza near his house on Wednesday night and thrashed him after throwing chilli powder on his face.
According to Hamza, the other miscreants involved in the attack are Abdul Rahiman, Yahya, Aneesh, Jafar, Sahil and Safwan.
When Hamza managed to raise an alarm, the miscreants fled the spot. A severely injured Hamza is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Ullal.
A case has been registered at Ullal police station and investigation is on. Police sources said that a search is on for the accused.
