Karnataka mother reunited with UAE daughters after 26 years

July 23, 2016

Bidar, Jul 23: It was an emotional reunion for 60-year-old Nazia Begum with her two daughters after a gap of 26 years on Thursday with the Hyderabad Police playing the role of a good samaritan.

Nazia, who hails from Bidar in Karnataka, along with her relatives anxiously waited at the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police at Purani Haveli. At around 5 pm, her daughters – Ayesha and Fatima – along with their husbands and children came to the office.

Emotions filled the room as the two women moved forward and held their mother in a long, teary embrace.

“We never thought we would meet our mother in lifetime. Allah had fixed the meeting and we are glad that we got to see our mother after 26 long years,” Ayesha and Fatima said.

DCP V Satyanarayana said Nazia, who belonged to Santoshnagar in the Old City of Hyderabad, was married to UAE national Rasheed Eid Obaid Rifaq Masmari in 1981. When she left for Fujairah province in the UAE to join her husband a few days later, she was shocked to find that he was already married.

With no other option, Nazia stayed with her husband for four years and gave birth to two daughters Ayesha Rasheed and Fatima Rasheed. Shortly after Fatima's birth, Rasheed divorced her and sent her back to India. But he did not allow Nazia to take her daughters with her.

Nazia's poor and uneducated family could not do much to help her. A couple of years later, her parents married her off to a fruit vendor from Bidar. Nazia now has three children - two sons and a daughter from the second marriage.

While she had practically lost all hope of seeing her daughters from her first marriage, Ayesha and Fatima did not give up their quest to find their mother.

Now aged 29 and 26, Ayesha and Fatima who live in the UAE, came to Hyderabad in search of their mother in January this year. Armed with only a photograph of Nazia, they approached the Hyderabad police to trace their mother. The daughters have been in Hyderabad since their arrival.

“We made extensive search for Nazia. With the help of old Qazis and marriage hall owners in Hyderabad, we could get some clues about her. We could finally trace her to Bidar after six months,” Satyanarayana said.

Nazia had fading memories about her daughters because she had seen them last 26 years ago. All she could remember was her younger daughter had six fingers. That piece of information turned out to be the clincher which helped the police confirm the identities of mother and daughters and arrange their meeting.

And this is why preachers support triple talaq and polygamy.
Good food for thought.
What a wonderful way of life. Use, abuse and then discard women.

devaraje gowda.jpg

In a fresh claim, arrested BJP leader and advocate G Devaraje Gowda has alleged that Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and four other ministers were behind exposing Prajwal Revanna’s sex scam that has brought disgrace to Janata Dal (Secular) H D Deve Gowda family.

Devaraje Gowda has been arrested in a sexual abuse case.

Speaking to reporters while being taken to the district prisons, in Hassan on Friday, Gowda alleged that he was offered Rs 100 crore to drag the name of H D Kumaraswamy in the Prajwal’s case.

“D K Shivakumar had offered me Rs 100 crore to project that H D Kumaraswamy was behind the case. The offer was made through ministers N Chaluvarayaswamy, Krishna Byre Gowda, Priyank Kharge and another minister. They had even sent Rs 5 crore as advance to Bowring Club. But I did not agree. Hence, they hatched a plot to trap me,” Gowda alleged.

“It is D K Shivakumar, who collected all information from Prajwal Revanna’s former car driver Karthik and readied the pen drive. A team of four ministers were formed to handle the issue. As I did not agree to the plan. They planned to bring disrepute to the BJP, Narendra Modi and H D Kumaraswamy,” he said.

Gowda further alleged that former MLC M A Gopalaswamy of Channarayapatna was sent to him for negotiation.

“The main intention of D K Shivakumar is to bring disrepute to Modi and BJP in the case. Besides, he wanted to defame H D Kumaraswamy’s leadership in the state” he claimed. “They filed a sexual harassment and rape case against me, but found no evidence. Now, they are trying to fix me in the pen drive case” he alleged.

The victim, identified as 16-year-old Sajid Ashfaque Ali, was a bright tenth-grade student at Eden Way High School. Full of dreams and youthful energy, Sajid was enjoying an innocent game with his friends on the Jayanthi High School grounds when the unthinkable happened.

As ominous clouds gathered and rain began to pour, an unexpected bolt of lightning pierced the sky, striking Sajid. His friends watched in horror as he collapsed. Despite the desperate rush to get him to the hospital, Sajid's injuries proved fatal, and he passed away, leaving his family and community in shock and grief.

The rain that had started earlier that afternoon became a backdrop to this devastating incident, casting a pall over the Banavasi police station limits. The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) on Monday responded to Karnataka’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) regarding a blue corner notice issued against JDS MP Prajwal Revanna.

In its response, Interpol said that all 196 member countries were alerted to identify and report if Prajwal Revanna is spotted at any port in their jurisdiction.

The Karnataka government issued a Blue Corner Notice on Sunday against Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexual abuse by his staff members.

A Blue Corner Notice is issued by the international police cooperation body to collect additional information from its member countries about a person’s identity, location or activities about a crime.

The notice was issued after the 33-year-old Hassan MP reportedly flew to Germany soon after the Karnataka State Commission for Women chairperson Nagalakshmi Chowdhary wrote to the CM to order a probe into the sexual allegations against Prajwal.

Last week, the anticipatory bail application of Prajwal Revanna was also denied by Justice Santosh Gajanana Bhat’s bench of People’s Representative Court in Bengaluru.

Earlier, his MLA father and son of former Prime Minster HD Deve Gowda, HD Revanna was remanded to Karnataka SIT custody in a kidnapping-related sex scandal case.

His arrest came after the kidnapped victim was rescued from Revanna’s close assistant Rajasekhar’s farmhouse in Kalenahalli, Hunsur Taluk after the SIT conducted the rescue operation to find her, the police said.

The abduction case was filed by the son of a woman who worked at the Revannas’ house for nearly five years. He alleged that his mother was kidnapped from her home on April 29 by Satish Babanna a relative of Revanna.

The Karnataka Sex Scandal case pertains to explicit video clips allegedly involving the 33-year-old Prajwal, grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, which went viral on social media.

Those videos began to make rounds in Hassan in recent days, following which the state government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the sexual abuse allegations against the MP.
