The hardline Hindutva leader, who was in the city on Wednesday for a hearing in a local court, told media persons that the union government should abolish Muslim Personal Law in India.

“No Indian should oppose Union Civil Code. No other country in the world has two laws for its citizens. Unfortunately, in India, Muslims have separate personal law. Let them go to Pakistan if they are not ready to accept our law,” he said.

Reacting to a question on the warning by a few Dalit activists to Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt over casteist practice ofPankti Bedha', Mr Muthalik said that a few people with distorted minds trying to create chaos for the sake of publicity.

“Discrimination is practiced in mosques and churches too. Let those activists go there and issue threats. But they don't go there. Because, they are agents of Muslims and Christians,” he said.

I would like to comment to Bopanna as below : I appreciate your concern on Muslim personal law and your support and fight for their rights. However, you forgot your own people. Why are you dumb/blind and deaf for the rights of your people. I hope you will support your women to have six husbands to follow \Draupadi\" and wish you start this from your family first. It should be a fundamental right of every woman to have six husbands. Second, you should ask your wife to live in a forest to follow the path of Lord Rama who left his pregnant wife in the forest for about 14 years. Third, you should not object of eating beef as it was a food of Pandavas. Let me see how much you are concerned of your own people and how you will fight for their rights."

I would like to ask Mutalk about those anti nationals who hoisted pakistan flag and those who put cow shit on Sri Rama flakes. Are you going to honour them and ask Govt to award them with National awards. Terrorist Godse is your Hero. Your ugly face reflects that you are a anti national and terrorist. You should not comment on others as you yourself is a burden to our land and country. I hope you will prefer to go to pakistan and sure that they will honour for hoisting pakistani flag in india.

My sincere request to PM Modi ji.....

Pls allow Muslims of India to follow the Triple Talaaq system as prescribed by Sharia, and just pass a law that all Muslim criminals will be punished according to Law of Sharia.

All Muslims arrested will not be prosecuted under IPC but they will be tried by a Sharia Court separately conceived by State and Central Govt. Each City in every District of all the States should have a Sharia Law Centre.

All Muslims arrested for any crime should be presented in such Courts and punished according to Sharia at that very moment of crime without any delay e.g. a rapist should be buried half in the mud and stoned by public to death. A thief should have his hands amputated there on the crime scene itself. A murderer should be hanged publicly on a tree.

Deposits in the Bank of all the Muslims should be made interest free as they cannot receive any interest on deposits, according to Sharia.

Haj subsidies should be abolished since its \Haram\" as per Sharia.

Muslim men should be debarred from using alcohol and tobacco products. They should not be allowed in music concerts, theaters and debarred from any means of recreation or entertainment.

Why follow Sharia with a half heart ?

Let's make them follow it with full support.

Those who don't follow Sharia should be lashed 100 times and then let off.

Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists etc. can follow the rule of land as they don't have any problem with law of the land.

Thanking You :)

Jai Hind."

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.

Mangaluru, Dec 16: The Mangaluru City police have significantly escalated their campaign against drug trafficking, arresting 25 individuals and booking 12 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act between November 30 and December 13. The crackdown resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of illicit substances, including 685.6 grams of MDMA and 1.5 kg of ganja.

The success of this recent drive has been significantly boosted by the city’s innovative, QR code-based anonymous reporting system.

"The anonymous reporting system has received an encouraging response. Several recent arrests were made based on inputs received through this system, helping police tighten the noose around drug peddlers," said the City Police Commissioner.

The latest arrests contribute to a robust year-to-date record, underscoring the police's relentless commitment to combating the drug menace.

Up to December 14 this year, the police have registered a total of 107 cases of drug peddling, leading to the arrest of 219 peddlers. Furthermore, they have booked 562 cases of drug consumption, resulting in the arrest of 671 individuals.

The scale of the seizure for the year reflects the magnitude of the problem being tackled: police have seized 320.6 kg of ganja worth ₹88.7 lakh and 1.4 kg of MDMA valued at ₹1.2 crore. Other significant seizures include hydro-weed ganja worth ₹94.7 lakh and cocaine worth ₹1.9 lakh, among others.

The Commissioner emphasized a policy of rigorous enforcement: "We ensure that peddlers are caught red-handed so that they cannot later dispute the case or claim innocence."

To counter the rising trend of substance abuse among youth, the Mangaluru City police have rolled out uniform guidelines for random drug testing across educational institutions.

As part of the drive, tests were conducted in approximately 100 institutions, screening an estimated 5,500 to 6,000 students in the first phase. 20 students tested positive for drug consumption during the initial screening.

Students who tested positive have been provided counselling and are scheduled for re-testing in the second quarter. The testing will also be expanded to students not covered in the first phase. In a move to ensure strict implementation, police personnel were deployed in mufti in some institutions. Reiterating a zero-tolerance stance, the Commissioner confirmed that random testing will continue, and colleges have also been instructed to conduct drug tests at the time of admission to deter substance abuse from an early stage.

Mangaluru: Public transport in Mangaluru is set for a state-led transformation as the government moves to deploy 100 new electric govt buses to replace unreliable private services. The initiative aims to provide a dependable alternative to private operators who have been frequently "cutting trips," leaving thousands of commuters stranded.

The announcement was made by Deputy Commissioner and MCC Administrator Darshan HV during a public phone-in session. The move specifically targets routes where private bus service has become erratic, ensuring that citizens no longer have to rely on a fluctuating private sector for their daily commute.

Restoring the Govt Presence

The transport crisis was brought to the forefront by Ramayya, a resident of Bajal, who highlighted a growing trend of private buses skipping morning and night trips. With the previous KSRTC (govt) services discontinued, residents have been left without a fallback option.

To fix this, the DC confirmed that the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme will bring 100 government-owned electric buses to the city:

•    Phased Deployment: The first 50 of the new 100 government buses are scheduled to arrive by March 2026.

•    State Infrastructure: Two new government depots, including one at Mudipu, are being prepared for operations.

•    Recruitment: The state has already begun training a new batch of government bus drivers to ensure the fleet is operational the moment it arrives.
