The protesters held the tricolour and placards with slogans such asJai Hind,'Hindustan Zindabad',We are proud to be Indians', along with placards condemning the efforts to interfere in the Muslim personal law, saying that they were happy with the Islamic Shariat.

The women said that they were against any effort to bring in a Uniform Civil Code.

I could not understand why Modi Govt is planning to abolish Muslim Personal Law which is not acceptable to name sake muslims who count less than 0.01 percent of muslim population in India. These are traitors of Islam and they are free to leave the religion if they do not agree with it. No one is forcing them to practice the religion and abide by its laws. I think they are acting as agents of enemies of Islam and being bribed by the enemieis. I appreciate the women of Hubballi for taking our processing condemning Govt proposal to abolich Muslim Personal Law and wish same marches in every city, town and village all over india. Govt should know that we Muslims are fully happy with Muslim Shariat and cannot accept any change or abolishing it. Govt should not interfere in it. In any name sake muslim is not willing to follow the Shariat none is going to force him or her and let them go to hell. None will care them. They are a wastage to our society. If Govt wishes these wastes to hug, let it do it.

In the main stream media they portray the bad effect of instant Triple Talaq (ITT) whereas the Govt. actually wants to end the whole Talaq system and get the Muslims on to their judiciary system which we are all fed up to deal with. According to me if we have done the Nikah using Muslim Personal Law then the Talaq has to be done by same Muslim Personal law.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Educational institutions in Mangaluru that rely on the popular Mangala Stadium for their annual sports events are bracing for an inconvenience as the city's key sporting venue is set to close its gates for a significant upgrade. The stadium is expected to be unavailable for approximately two months starting from January 15, 2026.

The closure is necessitated by a proposed overhaul of the stadium's facilities, with a special focus on upgrading the synthetic track. Pradeep Dsouza, Assistant Director of the District of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES), Dakshina Kannada, confirmed the development.

"Experts have visited the stadium, conducted a thorough inspection, and have given the go-ahead for a complete makeover," Dsouza stated. "Funds have been allocated for the project, and we are currently awaiting the final green signal from state officials to commence the work. We anticipate that the work will likely begin in the second week of January. Consequently, we have stopped renting out the stadium to colleges and other organizations in preparation for the upgrade."

The timing presents a logistical challenge for colleges, as many schools have already concluded their sports meets.

"Colleges will now be organizing their events and will need to find alternative locations to host their sports meets," Dsouza added. He suggested a few potential venues, including the Dakshina Kannada police ground, University College grounds, Panambur grounds, Swaraj Maidan in Moodbidri, and the Mangalore University sports grounds in Konaje.

However, many institutions note that finding a comparable venue will be difficult. While the DK police ground and University College grounds are closer to the city center, they do not possess the extensive facilities and infrastructure offered by Mangala Stadium.

Dr. P Dayananda Pai - P Satisha Govt First Grade College, Carstreet, is one such institution dependent on the stadium. Principal Jayakar Bhandary expressed hope for a swift completion of the work. "We expect the work to be completed at the earliest. If not, we will be forced to look for other venues to host the sports day for our students," Bhandary said, highlighting the pressing need for the city's main sporting facility.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
