Udupi, Nov 4: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shobha Karandlaje, who is known for controversial and provocative statements, has this time held Karnataka Haj Minister R Roshan Baig directly responsible for the murder of Bengaluru RSS activist Rudresh.

Ms Karandlaje, who represents the Udupi-Chikkamaluru constituency in the parliament, speaking to a television channel on Friday, claimed that Mr Baig gave supari to eliminate Rudresh, who according to her was anable leader'.

“Rudresh was capable of strengthening the party at the grass-root level. Mr Baig, who represents Shivajinagar in the Legislative Assembly, was threatened by Rudresh's steady growth in the constituency” said the confidante of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Claiming that entire Shivajinagar issuspecting' the local Congress MLA's hand behind the October 16 murder, Mr Karandlaje said that her party will hold a state-wide protest on November 8 demanding the resignation of Mr Baig.

She said that handing over the murder case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is among the demands of BJP. “We don't have faith in the state investigation agency under the rule of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah,” she added.

This is the first time a senior BJP leader in the state is holding Mr Beig responsible for the murder case. So far the BJP was blaming Popular Front of India and its allies. The startling allegation comes two days after the police nabbed PFI Bengaluru district president Hashim Sharif as the fifth accused in the case.

It could be recalled here that Ms Karandlaje had recently said that all activists of Sangh Parivar should be allowed to carry weapons.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
