4 senior ministers may have to quit soon over graft: BSY

December 13, 2016

Shivamogga, Dec 13: State BJP president B S Yeddyurappa said on Monday that three to four senior ministers might have to resign over the next 15 days for their involvement in the steel bridge, Yettinahole project and money laundering scams, totally worth Rs around 5,000 crore.

Yeddyurappa

Speaking to journalists at the party office here, he said S C Jayachandra, chief project officer of State Highways Project, now in the custody of Enforcement Directorate, had revealed that he had given crores of rupees to a senior minister, who is a close aide of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Public Works Minister H C Mahadevappa is preparing to seek anticipatory bail on December 13, the former chief minister said.

“It is the duty of the chief minister to inform people about the money received by the minister. But, Siddaramaiah is trying to shield the corrupt ministers,” he said.

Referring to the steel flyover project in Bengaluru, Yeddyurappa said that the L&T company contractor had admitted during investigation that he had given a kickback of Rs 500 crore to a close aide of the chief minister.

“Who is the minster? Siddaramaiah should clarify this,” Yeddyurappa said.

He said the government had released Rs 14,000 crore for the implementation of the controversial Yettinahole project. “Even before the commencement of the work, pipes have been purchased in a haste.

“The contractor concerned has admitted that he had given a huge sum of money to a
senior minister. The chief minister may also have received his share in the kickback. If Siddaramaiah is honest, he should reveal the names of the corrupt ministers,” he said.

Asked about BJP leader

K S Eshwarappa's participation in the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade convention, he said the party's central leaders would take action against him.

This Yeddi was corrupt even during his investigation.
Lokayukta caught and arrested. The whole Shimoga belongs to him if not fully,
This shameless preacher is now wants to be very clean & honest.
According to Yeddi, HC Jayachandra has given money to a minister.
Then let Yeddi ask Jayachandra who is that minister who took bribe

It means Yeddi knows better than the government, let Yeddi reveal the names of all corrupt ministers.
Yeddi even does not know how to lie.

Mangaluru police have arrested a 27-year-old NRI on his return from Saudi Arabia in connection with an Instagram post allegedly containing derogatory and provocative remarks about the Hindu religion, officials said on Monday.

The accused, Abdul Khader Nehad, a resident of Ulaibettu in Mangaluru, was working in Saudi Arabia when the post was uploaded, police said.

A suo motu case was registered at the Bajpe police station on October 11 after an allegedly offensive post circulated from the Instagram account ‘team_sdpi_2025’. Police said the content was flagged for being provocative and derogatory in nature.

During the investigation, technical analysis traced the Instagram post to Nehad, who was residing abroad at the time, a senior police officer said. Based on these findings, a Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against him.

On December 14, Nehad arrived from Saudi Arabia at Calicut International Airport in Kerala, where he was taken into custody on arrival. Police said further investigation is underway.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
