Mangaluru, Dec 23: Amidst report that Congress has referred complaints against him to the party's Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC), senior leader B Janardhana Poojary has warned that he would fight against those to try to take action against him.

Meanwhile, Mr Poojary rubbished the rumours about him receiving notice from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and said that no representative from the high command has spoken to him over initiating any action against him.

Speaking to media persons said that some leaders of Congress party may try to expel him by but the ideology of Congress that is in his blood cannot be expelled.

He went on to claim that his father was also a true Congressman and had a great respect for the Nehru family. “Even I respect the Nehru family a lot. If the party is to expel me, the very next moment I will start my fight against those who are responsible for my expulsion,” he said.

People who have migrated to Congress from other parties have been spoiling the image of the Congress. “The chief minister has been killing the Congress. Earlier when he was in the JD(S), he had portrayed the Nehru family in a poor light,” he remarked.

Action imminent?

Poojary, a former Union minister and KPCC?president has been criticising party leaders in the state, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in particular. The 79-year-old Poojary is a known detractor of Siddaramaiah and has criticised his style of functioning on numerous occasions.

Poojary found himself out in the cold when the Congress handed over the reins of the state to Siddaramaiah after the 2013 Assembly elections.

Recently, KPCC?working president Dinesh Gundu Rao submitted a report against Poojary to the All India Congress Committee.

The DAC is chaired by former Defence minister A K Antony with senior leaders Motilal Vora and Sushilkumar Shinde as members. The committee will now discuss the case and submit its report to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who will take the final decision.

Mangaluru: Public transport in Mangaluru is set for a state-led transformation as the government moves to deploy 100 new electric govt buses to replace unreliable private services. The initiative aims to provide a dependable alternative to private operators who have been frequently "cutting trips," leaving thousands of commuters stranded.

The announcement was made by Deputy Commissioner and MCC Administrator Darshan HV during a public phone-in session. The move specifically targets routes where private bus service has become erratic, ensuring that citizens no longer have to rely on a fluctuating private sector for their daily commute.

Restoring the Govt Presence

The transport crisis was brought to the forefront by Ramayya, a resident of Bajal, who highlighted a growing trend of private buses skipping morning and night trips. With the previous KSRTC (govt) services discontinued, residents have been left without a fallback option.

To fix this, the DC confirmed that the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme will bring 100 government-owned electric buses to the city:

•    Phased Deployment: The first 50 of the new 100 government buses are scheduled to arrive by March 2026.

•    State Infrastructure: Two new government depots, including one at Mudipu, are being prepared for operations.

•    Recruitment: The state has already begun training a new batch of government bus drivers to ensure the fleet is operational the moment it arrives.
