Mangaluru, Feb 13: Congress veteran B?Janardhana Poojary has pledged to retire from politics, if people do not vote against BJP-led NDA government at the Centre in 2019 General Elections.

Poojary, who launched a scathing attack against Modi for failing to keep his promises made ahead of the parliamentary elections, chose to remind the latter on the delay in initiating stringent action against terror suspects Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack and Masood Azhar, the Jaish-e-Mohammed leader.

Demanding the prime minister to tender apology for reneging on the promises made, he said, “It’s easy to make rhetoric and fool the people around with your speech. Is it not breach of trust,” he questioned.

Answering a query on charges levelled by former chief minister B?S?Yeddyurappa against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Poojary said, “I am also waiting for Yeddyurappa to prove his charges with documentary evidence.”

On the complaint made by a section of party leaders against three senior leaders of the party including himself (Poojary), former Union minister C?K?Jaffer Sharief and former MP?A?H?Vishwanath from Mysuru, Poojary dared the authorities concerned to initiate action.

He also predicted the downfall of Siddaramaiah if he fails to initiate action against Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi whose house and offices were raided by income tax sleuths recently.

Replying to a query, he defended the then prime minister Indira Gandhi for imposing emergency in 1975 for the sake of protecting democracy that constitutes none other than the people in general. Or else, the country would have witnessed a revolution like that of France and other countries due to political instability, he claimed.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
