February 22, 2017

Tirupati, Feb 22: In a princely offering, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today donated gold ornaments worth around Rs 5 crore to the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara in nearby Tirumala. Accompanied by family members and some cabinet colleagues, Rao arrived here last night by a special flight on a 15-hour maiden spiritual visit to the ancient temple.

After offering worship to the presiding deity (Lord Venkateswara) this morning, the Telangana Chief Minister handed over a golden garland studded with fossilised shells called "Shaligram Haram" and a multi-layer gold necklace called "Makhara Kantabharanam," totally weighing about 19 kg and worth about Rs 5 crore to the temple Executive Officer, D Sambasiva Rao this morning, temple sources said.

It was the first of such huge offering evermade by a state government after Independence in the country, to the 2,000-year-old hill shrine, richest in the world, the sources said. Later, at the sprawling Ranganayaka Mandapam inside shrine, Rao was honoured with sacred silk cloth and prasadam while the high priests, amid chanting vedic hymns, bestowed blessings on him.

Before leaving for Hyderabad, Rao also offered his obeisance and made a gold offering at the shrine of Sri Padmavathi in Tiruchanur near here, the sources added. In a brief chat with mediapersons outside the shrine, Rao said he came to the shrine to offer prayers and make the offerings as well to Lord Venkateswara as a fulfillment of his vow.

This is only a show biz. Thousands of poors and farmers are suffering all over india and many people are commenting suicde due to poverty on daily basis. Why dont this CM use the money on uplifting of poors. Is his God poorer than these poor indians. Why the temple management is not showing interest in the improvement or help of needy people. If the wealth these temples have will be used wisely, i think 75 percent of poverty in india can be solved. However, no politician or temple is botherd about this.

Whose money is that, being a responsible CM he should have given it to poorer and downtrodden people around or helped farmers to over come their financial problems. Everyday we see on newspaper of their suicide attempts and deaths due to financial situations....

God does not need anybody's money...God gives, doesn't take.....

There is no God except ALLAH... and Muhammd pbuh is the final messager of ALLAH who conveyed the message of oneness of God to all mankind not just muslims...

Every time the messenger was sent to remind people of the oneness of God and to worship him alone... When the messenger was gone people started to worship whatever they felt... even without knowing and trying to know who GOD is ... People live a life of UNAWARE...

READ THE QURAN and try to know who the TRUE GOD . its a manual for whole of MANKIND... Dont accept until YOU are convinced with what it says ... U Have the choice..

Does GOD require gift from Human? Does GOD will be happy or accept if Human give ornaments which that statue can't even wear by himself unless human help? Does GOD require gift from tax payers money? What GOD is going to do with expensive ornaments?

On the other side Sanghi's protecting their GOD (cow) by violence. Does GOD need help or Protection from his own creation. Muscle head doesn't understand.

There are many people who are living in poverty... It would be a blessing from God if the CM would have looked after the LIVING and not idols...

its pure emotional black mail to people by offering the gold to lifeless objects

May God give a just leader to the people of the World...

For what ??? What benefit will Idols get and what benefit CM will get ?? Instead of spending this huge amount in idols CM could have spend it on poor people so that he could be blessed out of it. In 5 crore how many poor people could have benefited? How many shelters for poor could have built it ? This is nothing but wastage of wealth. God Doesnt need anything from human being. Help poor and be kind to all. This gold will fill the lockers of temple management.

Niralli Homa itta hage aitu.. Seriously crazy CM and crazy beliefs.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.

SHRIMP.jpg

Mangaluru, Dec 7: A rare bamboo shrimp has been rediscovered on mainland India more than 70 years after it was last reported, confirming for the first time the presence of Atyopsis spinipes in the country. The find was made by researchers from the Centre for Climate Change Studies at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, during surveys in Karnataka and Odisha.

The team — shrimp expert Dr S Prakash, PhD scholar K Kunjulakshmi, and Mangaluru-based researcher Maclean Antony Santos — combined field surveys, ecological assessments and DNA analysis to identify the elusive species. Their findings, published in Zootaxa, resolve decades of taxonomic confusion stemming from a 1951 report that misidentified the species as Atyopsis moluccensis without strong evidence.

The shrimp has now been confirmed at two locations: the Mulki–Pavanje estuary near Mangaluru and the Kuakhai River in Bhubaneswar. Historical specimens from the Andaman Islands, previously labelled as A. moluccensis, were also found to be misidentified and actually belong to A. spinipes.

The rediscovery began after an aquarium hobbyist in Odisha spotted a shrimp in 2022, prompting systematic surveys across Udupi, Karwar and Mangaluru. Four female specimens were collected in Mulki and one in Odisha, all genetically matching.

Researchers warn the species may exist in very small, vulnerable populations as freshwater habitats face increasing pressure from pollution, sand mining and infrastructure development. All verified specimens have been deposited with the Zoological Survey of India for future reference.
